Melanocortin
Signaling system involved in pigmentation and appetite
Melanocortins are a family of peptides derived from a larger precursor protein. They bind to several related receptor types on cells and influence processes such as skin pigment production, appetite regulation, and certain aspects of inflammation in research models. Synthetic versions have been studied for effects on tanning responses and feeding behavior.
