Neurotransmitter
Chemical messenger between nerve cells
Neurotransmitters are molecules released from one nerve cell that bind to receptors on a neighboring cell and change its activity for a brief time. Classic examples include dopamine, serotonin, and GABA. Some research peptides are studied for possible indirect effects on neurotransmitter systems or on the expression of related receptors.
