Proteolysis
Breakdown of proteins into smaller pieces
Proteolysis is the enzymatic cutting of proteins into shorter fragments or individual amino acids. It is required for normal protein turnover, digestion of food proteins, and removal of damaged proteins. Some research peptides and enzymes are examined for how they may modulate local proteolytic activity during tissue repair.
