Albiglutide for Fat Loss

Weekly GLP-1 agonist fused to albumin; discontinued GSK product (Tanzeum/Eperzan).

Why Albiglutide for fat loss?

Albiglutide (Tanzeum in US, Eperzan in EU) was a recombinant fusion of two tandem GLP-1 (7-36) molecules with human albumin, developed by GSK and FDA-approved 2014. The HARMONY-OUTCOMES trial showed CV event reduction. GSK voluntarily withdrew the product worldwide in 2018 for commercial reasons despite favorable efficacy.

Fat Loss context: Reducing body fat percentage through appetite regulation, lipolysis, or metabolic upregulation. Albiglutide fits this goal because its category (Metabolic) and benefit profile align with the underlying mechanism.
