What the literature says

Scientific Overview

Decapeptide-12 (Lumixyl) is a synthetic 10-amino-acid peptide identified via phage display as a competitive inhibitor of human tyrosinase. Small dermatology studies (Schlessinger et al., 2011) showed efficacy comparable to 4% hydroquinone for mild melasma over 16 weeks with a much milder side-effect profile.
