Larazotide Acetate for Muscle Gain

Tight-junction regulator developed for celiac disease; reduces intestinal permeability.

Why Larazotide Acetate for muscle gain?

Larazotide acetate (AT-1001) is an octapeptide zonulin antagonist that prevents tight-junction disassembly in the small intestine. Innovate Biopharmaceuticals advanced it to Phase 3 (CeDLara) as an adjunct for celiac disease but the trial failed its primary endpoint in 2022, and the program was paused. Still studied in long COVID and IBS.

Muscle Gain context: Increasing lean mass via GH/IGF-1 axis, satellite-cell activity, or anabolic signaling. Larazotide Acetate fits this goal because its category (Recovery) and benefit profile align with the underlying mechanism.

Benefits relevant to muscle gain

  • Tightens intestinal junctions
  • Reduces leaky-gut markers
  • Studied in celiac disease
