Liraglutide for Fat Loss
Daily GLP-1 analog; FDA-approved for diabetes (Victoza) and obesity (Saxenda®).
Why Liraglutide for fat loss?
Liraglutide is a once-daily GLP-1 receptor agonist with 97% homology to native GLP-1 plus a fatty-acid linker for albumin binding. Sold as Victoza (T2DM, 2010) and Saxenda (obesity, 2014) by Novo Nordisk. The LEADER trial showed cardiovascular event reduction in T2DM. Now largely displaced by weekly semaglutide.
Fat Loss context: Reducing body fat percentage through appetite regulation, lipolysis, or metabolic upregulation. Liraglutide fits this goal because its category (Metabolic) and benefit profile align with the underlying mechanism.
