Store the lyophilized powder refrigerated (2 to 8 C), or frozen for long-term storage, protected from light. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within about 4 weeks.

Scientific Overview
Human beta-defensin 2 (hBD-2, DEFB4) is a 41-aa cationic antimicrobial peptide induced in epithelia by IL-1, TNF, and bacterial products. Active against Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and some enveloped viruses; also a CCR6 ligand recruiting dendritic cells. Studied as a topical anti-infective; no approved indication.
