Follistatin
Protein that blocks myostatin and related signals
Follistatin is a protein that binds to myostatin and activin, preventing them from activating their receptors. By interfering with these signals it removes a natural limit on muscle fiber growth in research models. Administration or gene delivery of follistatin has been studied primarily in animal models of muscle size and wasting conditions.
