Satellite Cell
Muscle stem cell involved in repair and growth
Satellite cells are small cells located on the surface of muscle fibers that can activate, divide, and fuse with existing fibers or form new fibers after damage or increased demand. Their activity contributes to muscle repair and adaptation. IGF-1 and certain GH-axis compounds are examined in research for possible effects on satellite cell behavior.
