Scientific Overview
MGF is a splice variant of IGF-1 (IGF-1Ec) produced in muscle in response to mechanical overload or damage. It is distinct from systemic IGF-1 and acts in a paracrine fashion to recruit satellite cells. Synthetic PEG-MGF extends its very short half-life from minutes to hours and is the form most commonly used in research.
