Gastric Emptying

Rate at which the stomach releases food

Gastric emptying is the controlled release of partially digested food from the stomach into the small intestine. Slower emptying keeps nutrients in the stomach longer and contributes to feelings of fullness. GLP-1 receptor activation is one mechanism studied for its consistent effect of delaying gastric emptying after meals.
