GLP-1

Gut hormone that slows digestion and promotes fullness

GLP-1 is a hormone released by cells lining the intestine after food enters the stomach. It signals the pancreas to release insulin when blood sugar rises and slows the speed at which the stomach empties its contents into the small intestine. Research compounds that activate the GLP-1 pathway are studied for how they influence appetite signals and blood sugar responses after meals.
