Onset and duration

Appetite or glycemic effects within the first days; full effect accrues over weeks to months alongside titration.

Storage and reconstitution

Store the lyophilized powder refrigerated (2 to 8 C), or frozen for long-term storage, protected from light. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within about 4 weeks.

Clinical Evidence

What the literature says

Scientific Overview

Liraglutide is a once-daily GLP-1 receptor agonist with 97% homology to native GLP-1 plus a fatty-acid linker for albumin binding. Sold as Victoza (T2DM, 2010) and Saxenda (obesity, 2014) by Novo Nordisk. The LEADER trial showed cardiovascular event reduction in T2DM. Now largely displaced by weekly semaglutide.

  • HbA1c: Primary glycemic efficacy marker for incretin therapy.
  • Fasting glucose: Tracks glycemic response and hypoglycemia risk when combined with other agents.
  • Lipid panel / ApoB: Incretin therapy commonly improves atherogenic lipids alongside weight loss.
