Glucagon

Hormone that raises blood sugar from liver stores

Glucagon is a hormone made by alpha cells in the pancreas. When blood sugar is low, it prompts the liver to break down stored glycogen and release glucose into the bloodstream. Research on compounds that engage the glucagon pathway looks at its role in energy mobilization and its interactions with other metabolic signals.
