Insulin Sensitivity

How readily cells respond to insulin

Insulin sensitivity describes how effectively cells take up glucose from the blood when insulin is present. Higher sensitivity means smaller amounts of insulin achieve the same effect. Chronic stimulation of the growth hormone axis is one factor examined in research for possible gradual reductions in insulin sensitivity over time.
