Fasting Glucose

Blood sugar measured after overnight fast

Fasting glucose is the amount of sugar measured in the blood after a person has not eaten or drunk anything but water for at least eight hours. It provides a snapshot of blood sugar levels in the absence of recent food intake. It is one of several markers used to describe how the body handles sugar.
