Neuropeptide
Short protein signal used by nerve cells
Neuropeptides are small chains of amino acids that nerve cells release to communicate with other cells. They act more slowly and over longer distances than classic fast neurotransmitters. Many research peptides belong to or mimic families of neuropeptides that affect mood, pain perception, or hormone release in laboratory settings.
