Peptide Bond

Link that joins amino acids in a chain

A peptide bond is the chemical connection formed when the carboxyl group of one amino acid links to the amino group of another, releasing a water molecule. Chains of amino acids connected by these bonds are called peptides or proteins depending on length. Most research peptides are made by creating specific sequences of these bonds through chemical synthesis.
