Thymulin
Thymulin is a thymic nonapeptide (FTS) that becomes biologically active only when bound to zinc in a 1:1 ratio, forming the conformational epitope its targets recognize. The zinc-bound form acts on thymocytes to promote T-cell maturation and participates in two-way signaling between the thymus and the neuroendocrine system. Because activity is strictly zinc-dependent, serum thymulin tracks zinc status, and its decline with age parallels thymic involution.
No acute perceptible effect; reported benefits build over days to weeks of consistent use.
Store the lyophilized powder refrigerated (2 to 8 C), or frozen for long-term storage, protected from light. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within about 4 weeks.

According to PubMed, thymulin's biological activity requires bound zinc: the zinc-free peptide is inactive and zinc restores activity, defining the active 'thymulin' (FTS-Zn) form (Dardenne M et al., PNAS 1982). Serum thymulin activity falls in human zinc deficiency and is restored by zinc supplementation, making it a sensitive marker of zinc status (Prasad AS et al., J Clin Invest 1988). Most therapeutic work is preclinical or mechanistic; dedicated human efficacy trials are sparse.
