Adverse Event
Unwanted occurrence during a study
An adverse event is any unfavorable or unintended medical occurrence experienced by a participant while taking part in research. Events are recorded whether or not they appear connected to the compound being studied. Systematic collection of adverse events is a required part of safety evaluation in research.
