Randomized Controlled Trial
Study with random group assignment
A randomized controlled trial is a study design in which participants are assigned by chance to receive either the active compound or a comparison such as a placebo. Random assignment helps create similar groups at the start so differences in outcomes can be more confidently linked to the compound. These trials are considered among the stronger forms of evidence for testing effects.
