ARA-290 (Cibinetide)
ARA-290 (cibinetide) is a short peptide modeled on the helix-B domain of erythropoietin. It selectively activates the innate repair receptor (a heteromer of the EPO receptor and the beta-common receptor) that mediates erythropoietin's tissue-protective, anti-inflammatory, and healing effects, without engaging the homodimeric EPO receptor that drives red-blood-cell production. This separation is why it can promote nerve repair and reduce neuropathic pain without raising hematocrit.
No acute perceptible effect; reported benefits build over days to weeks of consistent use.
Store the lyophilized powder refrigerated (2 to 8 C), or frozen for long-term storage, protected from light. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within about 4 weeks.

Scientific Overview
According to PubMed, a randomized double-blind pilot in 22 sarcoidosis patients with small-fiber neuropathy found IV ARA-290 (2 mg, three times weekly for 4 weeks) significantly improved neuropathy symptom scores versus placebo with no safety concerns (Heij L et al., Mol Med 2012). A 2014 review of two Phase 2 trials reported consistent symptom improvement plus increased corneal nerve fibers without stimulating erythropoiesis (van Velzen M et al., Expert Opin Investig Drugs 2014). It is investigational and not approved.
