GHRP-2

GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that activates the GHSR-1a receptor, stimulating GH release from the pituitary with greater potency than GHRP-6. It also has modest effects on cortisol and prolactin. Clinical phase II trials documented significant GH secretion, and it has been approved as a diagnostic agent for GH deficiency in Japan.

Onset and duration

Acute growth-hormone pulse within roughly 30 to 60 minutes of dosing; body-composition effects build over weeks.

Storage and reconstitution

Store the lyophilized powder refrigerated (2 to 8 C), or frozen for long-term storage, protected from light. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within about 4 weeks.

Research Protocols

Common Dosages

GH Pulse

100–300 mcg
1–3× daily

Empty stomach; pre/post-workout common

Dosages listed are common research protocols found in peer-reviewed literature and clinical trials. Individual results and requirements may vary significantly in a research context.

Reported Uses

  • Studied for potent growth hormone secretagogue activity in research and diagnostic settings
  • Investigated as a diagnostic agent for GH deficiency (approved in Japan)
  • Explored for muscle preservation and body composition in aging research

Key Research Benefits

  • GH release
  • Lean mass support
  • Less hunger than GHRP-6

Potential Side Effects

Cortisol/prolactin spike (mild)
Water retention

Considerations and Cautions

  • Elevates cortisol and prolactin more than selective GHRPs like ipamorelin
  • Not FDA-approved; classified as research-only in most Western jurisdictions

Labs to monitor

Educational context only, not a testing mandate. Any bloodwork decisions belong with your clinician.

  • IGF-1: Primary downstream marker of growth-hormone-axis activity.
  • Fasting glucose / HbA1c: GH-axis stimulation can reduce insulin sensitivity over time.
