Longevity

Epithalamin

Pineal-gland polypeptide extract; predecessor of Epitalon used in Russian gerontology.

Molecular Profile
protein
10 AA Sequence
Formula
polypeptide extract
Onset and duration

No acute perceptible effect; intended for long-term cellular outcomes rather than immediate changes.

Storage and reconstitution

Store the lyophilized powder refrigerated (2 to 8 C), or frozen for long-term storage, protected from light. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within about 4 weeks.

Clinical Evidence

What the literature says

Scientific Overview

Epithalamin is a pineal polypeptide extract from calf pineal gland developed in the Soviet Union by Khavinson and Anisimov from the 1970s. Reported to extend lifespan in mice, rats, and Drosophila in long-running St. Petersburg studies. The synthetic tetrapeptide Epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) was developed as the chemically defined successor.
